Zayn Puts A Cheating Partner On Blast With Slick New Song ‘Rainberry’

news image

Just when you thought Zayn would abandon the concept of an album altogether and just keep slinging out buzz singles for the rest of his life, he’s surprised us with an actual, legitimate announcement for LP No. 2.

Icarus Falls, his first album since 2016’s sprawling Mind of Mine, will arrive on December 14. He’s already released seven new singles this year, so if you’re worried that we’ve already heard most of the project, rest assured that’s not the case — Icarus Falls will comprise a whopping 27 songs.

To celebrate his big news, Zayn shared one of those tracks on Friday (November 30): the slick and moody “Rainberry,” which puts a potentially cheating partner on blast. What is a “rainberry,” you may ask? Who knows, but Z makes it sound mighty fine while letting his falsetto fly and sinking deeper and deeper into paranoia. “Too many bones inside your closet you thought you buried deep,” he sings. “But they never let me get a minute of peace / How do you sleep?”

“Rainberry” follows a slew of genre-spanning tracks Zayn’s released this year, including “Entertainer,” “Sour Diesel,” “Let Me,” “Fingers,” “Too Much,” and the Nicki Minaj-assisted “No Candle No Light.” All six of those will appear on Icarus Falls (his Bollywood cover will not), and at the rate things are going, Z may have one of the most eclectic albums of the year on his hands.

Tiffany Young On Her ‘Naughty And Nice’ New Single And What’s On Her Holiday Playlist

news image

‘Tis the season for cozying up, binging cheesy rom-coms, and listening to holiday music on loop (seriously, Christmas songs are unavoidable this time of year). While most artists put their unique spin on the jolly classics, few disrupt the holiday vibe with memorable original tracks of their own. But Tiffany Young, holiday enthusiast, isn’t afraid to take a risk.

On Friday (November 30), the pop star dropped her “sweet and cool” new holiday single, “Peppermint.” The sultry song is a strong showcase for Young’s velvety vocals as she coos, “You’ve been waiting to unwrap me / In your arms is where I’m happy.”

But “Peppermint” is more than a display of Young’s sweet-and-sensual musicality and flirtatious wordplay; it’s a gift for her fans. “I just wanted to give all of that love back.”

“It’s definitely inspired by my love of staying in, snuggling up by the fireside, and wearing pajamas all day,” Young said of the “naughty and nice” track, which she also co-wrote. “Christmas, for me, was more special when it was celebrated staying in with a loved one, or loved ones, relaxing and listening to music.”

Young’s love of holiday music is no secret — this year, she started listening to Christmas music in September — so MTV News asked the “Teach You” singer to break down the essential tracks on her Christmas playlist.

  • Mariah Carey, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

“It’s just timeless. It’s one of my favorite songs to listen to even when it’s not Christmas. I remember being young when I first heard it, and my sister was always playing it. It’s a song that I performed when I was in Korea. It’s just always been very special to me. It reminds me of family and my bandmates, being on stage with them. It’s so sweet, and it just gets you in your feels.”

  • Wham!, “Last Christmas”

“I’m huge George Michael fan, and that version is a classic. I get festive pretty early, and that’s the first song on for me. I remember shooting my December cover in September, and I was listening to that on set. ‘George Michael’ is all I need to say.”

  • Babyface, “White Christmas”

“Actually, the whole Christmas with Babyface album is going on my playlist. I love that album. The way he arranged all of these classic songs — it’s smooth, it’s sexy, it’s cool, and it’s all the things I love. I like listening to full albums during the holidays. I play one every other hour.”

  • Judy Garland, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”

“It’s so classic. It brings all of these colors and memories to my mind. It makes me think of visiting Santa when I was younger. That version is always nostalgic. I was listening to it earlier! And Judy Garland’s version is my favorite.”

  • Frank Sinatra, “Jingle Bells”

“It was 2014, and I was on tour getting Christmas songs ready, and I was listening to a lot of Frank Sinatra. I always left this song on while I was stretching, which is weird! I just played this one all the time on tour. I really love the classics. When you listen to these songs, it brings you back, but it also inspires new ideas and ways you want to sing it. It makes you want to create more. That’s what I love about this song; it inspires me.”

  • Michael Bublé, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”

“I love this sound and arrangement. It was put together so well, and it’s something that I would like to try. It reminds me of walking in the snow. I remember listening to this one a lot on tour as well. His tone and delivery — and that style of singing — is always going to be timeless.”

(“My bandmates loved my Christmas playlists,” Young added.)

  • *NSYNC, “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays”

“This just reminds me of being a teenager and having crushes. I remember holding onto that CD — I listened to it non-stop. I would listen to the radio just for the chance of hearing this song. It reminds me of my life before I went to Korea. I still remember the cover!”

  • The Jackson 5, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”

“That song was always on when I was a kid. I would unwrap presents to that song. It reminds me of my grandpa and Christmas morning and eggnog. It brings me back to this sense of childhood innocence. I thank my mom for giving me her music taste. She would always play this album.”

  • Tiffany Young, “Peppermint”

“It’s very current and now and me. I wanted it to be a gift to my fans and everyone who wants to enjoy snuggling in and listening to a sweet-and-cool type of song. The songwriting process started off with me throwing out any winter-related words possible, and it snowballed into ‘Peppermint.’ I wanted it to be more laid-back and relaxed compared to all of the other productions that I’ve done. I really focused on the tone of my voice, and I put in some Korean so that all of my fans could feel connected.”

Meek Mill And Drake Go Bar For Bar On New Song ‘Going Bad’: Listen

news image

In the biggest plot twist of Meek Mill‘s Championships era, he and Drake have officially buried the hatchet the way they know best: through music.

The two MCs, of course, were embroiled in an ugly beef back in 2015, when Meek accused Drake of using a ghostwriter. The claim escalated into a full-on feud that played out over multiple dis tracks, but none of that matters now. Meek performed on Drake’s Three Amigos Tour in September, and now the two have reunited for their third collaboration on wax. On Friday (November 30), Meek’s Championships arrived, and track No. 9, “Going Bad,” features him and Drake going bar for bar yet again, following previous team-ups “Amen” and “R.I.C.O.”

Drizzy opens the three-minute cut by comparing himself to Don Corleone and bragging that he’s “got more slaps than the Beatles,” which he’s technically not wrong about. Meek steps up halfway through to tout their super rare and surprising reunion, even referencing one of the 6 God’s blistering dis tracks by rapping, “Me and Drizzy back to back, it’s getting scary.” Later, he adds, “DC, OVO, we back again, we goin’ plat’.”

Earlier this week, Meek reflected on his beef with Drake in an interview with Vulture, saying, “I was just out of control at that point in my life. Getting high and doing whatever I wanted how I wanted to do it. In front of the world, not behind the scenes. I don’t know his writing situation or how he really carried it. I just jumped out of anger and what I thought was the truth at the time.”

Elsewhere on Championships, Meek briefly references the feud again, on the Jay-Z- and Rick Ross-featuring “What’s Free”: “Is we beefin’ or rappin’, I might just pop up with Drizzy like, ‘What’s Free?’”

In addition to those two star-studded collabs, Championships also features guest appearances by Cardi B, Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Fabolous, and more. The album marks Meek’s first full-length project since his release from prison in April, and he’ll continue celebrating his wins on a U.S. tour early next year. Maybe Drake will return the favor and cameo at one of those shows? Seems only fair.

Will Ben Platt Reprise His Role In The Dear Evan Hansen Movie? And More Important Questions

news image

Grab some tissues: Dear Evan Hansen is getting the big-screen treatment.

Though, reports of a film based on the Tony-winning musical shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. After all, the show has experienced a hugely successful run on Broadway, spawning a national tour, a soundtrack that debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, a young adult novel, and the kind of fandom that’s usually reserved for CW dramas (and Hamilton).

Nathan Johnson

Variety reports that Oscar- and Tony-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who wrote the music and lyrics for the Broadway smash, penned a deal with Universal Pictures, and playwright Steven Levenson, who took home the Tony for writing the musical’s book, is working on the script. Meanwhile, The Perks of Being a Wallflower‘s Stephen Chbosky — no stranger to complex stories about teens and mental illness — will direct.

And, yes, Ben Platt is reportedly in talks to reprise his Tony-winning — seriously, Dear Evan Hansen took home so many Tonys — titular role.

Now, if Platt is on board to once again don Evan’s striped polo and incredibly sweaty, terribly itchy arm cast, then does that mean that Dear Evan Hansen will be a movie musical? And will any of Connor’s backstory — explored in Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel — make it into the film? Most importantly: Will Evan learn how to break in a glove?!

Dear Pasek and Paul, as you can see, I have a few questions. Please respond promptly. Sincerely, me.

1. Will we ever find out if Evan Hansen owns more than one polo shirt? This is the most important question.

2. If Platt reprises his role, does that mean Rachel Bay Jones will too? Because “So Big/So Small” just won’t be the same without this iconic duo.

3. Will this even be a musical? (“For Forever” deserves to be seen on the big screen.)

4. What is Dear Evan Hansen without the music?

5. Will Pasek and Paul write original songs for the film?

6. Not to get too far ahead of myself, but does this mean Dear Evan Hansen: The Movie is already the frontrunner to win an Oscar for Best Original Song? (The Academy love Pasek and Paul.)

8. Will there be a scene of Zoe scribbling stars on the inside of her jeans?

9. Which A-list actors will be cast as the Murphys?

10. Oh my god. Will Hugh Jackman play Mr. Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen: The Movie?

Getty Images

11. Does Hugh Jackman even know how to break in a glove?

12. Wait. Okay. But what if Zendaya is Zoe? (I need this casting to happen.)

13. Is this movie secretly a way for Pasek and Paul to stage a Greatest Showman reunion?

14. Will there be a Beyoncé cameo? (She’s a fan!)

15. Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel, written by Val Emmich, deepens the story and gives Connor a proper backstory, but will any of that make it into the film?

16. SPOILER ALERT: Does this mean bisexual Connor Murphy will be film canon?

17. Will we finally get to see Evan grapple with the emotional fallout of his actions, and, you know, suffer any real-life consequences? We’ll have to wait and see!

Miley Cyrus Takes The Cops On An Epic Chase In ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ Video

news image

To say that there’s a lot happening in Miley Cyrus‘s new video would be a gross understatement. But while she’s no stranger to making our jaws drop with her always-creative, often-provocative visuals — remember “Wrecking Ball”? — her new one with Mark Ronson might be her best yet.

On Thursday (November 29), the duo dropped the country-disco collab “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” which was announced on social media earlier this week with a flutter of broken heart emojis. In the retro vid, Miley leads the cops on a high-speed chase, while a local newscast documents “Miley’s Wild Ride.” The scenes are indeed provocative — there are priests ogling strippers, nuns wielding pro-Miley signs, football players kneeling, and fans lining the street in solidarity while she poses in front of a wrecked car looking like a cross between a deranged ’80s prom queen and Jesus.

But here’s the kicker: Miley isn’t actually trying to be the center of attention at all. It’s like she’s daring us to make a big deal out of flashing her bare butt — which, yes, we do see in this video — instead of considering everything going on around her, like the disturbing scene of little girls shooting guns. Unnecessary hatred — like the flack she received after her racy 2013 VMA performance — often outweighs genuine care for more crucial societal issues, and that’s something Miley just won’t stand for.

“Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” appears on Ronson’s forthcoming, as-yet-untitled album, which he described earlier this week as being full of “sad bangers.” He and Miley are set to perform the tune on the December 15 episode of Saturday Night Live.

Will Chris Evans’s Captain America Survive Avengers 4? Here’s What We Know

news image

The fate of Captain America is in question — mostly because Chris Evans keeps changing his tune as to whether or not he wants to continue playing the scrawny military man-turned-superhero, or hang up the shield for good.

The latest news is positive: Joe Russo, co-director of both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, has assured fans that Evans’s story within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not over yet. But before we get too comfortable with this latest twist, let’s not forget the dizzying back-and-forth that went down to bring us to this place.

The frustrating saga began in March 2017, when an interview with Esquire inferred that Evans would be done with the franchise after his six-film contractual obligation was complete. (Avengers 4 will actually be the seventh MCU film for the actor, but who’s counting?) “He wanted to direct, he wanted to play other characters,” the piece read — something that is extremely difficult when you’re tied up with projects as hefty as these.

But the following week, Evans softened his earlier sentiments. Speaking this time to Collider, the first Avenger insisted that whether or not he continues is “really not up to me,” passing the ball to Marvel’s court. “The only reason it would end is ‘cause my contract is up. After Avengers 4, my contract is done,” he insisted. “Talk to Marvel. If we engage further, I’d be open to it. I love the character.”

Evans let the news rest for a whole year after that, not saying another word until one sneaky little parenthetical quote appeared in a larger profile the New York Times printed in March of this year.

Looking back at his strong and virtuous roles, the newspaper mentioned that Evans had finished filming the final two Avengers films for which he was contracted the previous summer. “For now, he has no plans to return to the franchise (‘You want to get off the train before they push you off,’ he said), and expects that planned reshoots in the fall will mark the end of his tenure in the familiar red, white and blue super suit,” they reported, sounding ominously similar to the logic expressed one year prior in Esquire.

Marvel Studios

The waffling reached a new extreme when Evans spoke with Variety in April 2018. When pressed on his potential participation in Marvel movies beyond Avengers 4, the man who had made a moving train analogy one month prior replied, “Tough to say.”

Evans continued, “Part of you almost kind of thinks: Well, if we end on the right note… and I think it really kind of does. The scripts they have are really beautiful and really well written,” giving the impression that on May 3, 2019 — the film’s release date — audiences will be satisfied with Steve Rogers’s story. Until moments later, when he added, “I guess it depends. It’s hard to know where your head’s gonna be at in a few years.”

Then, in October, right after Evans finished his contractual obligation, he fired off an tweet that many interpreted as a sign-off — and perhaps a death sentence for Captain America. “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least,” he wrote. “Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

In what we can now deem a tale as old as time, just over one week later, the actor clarified his tweet while at ACE Comic Con in Chicago, saying that his Twitter musing only seemed like a spoiler regarding his character’s fate, but “regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I would have tweeted the exact same thing.”

He continued by noting the high emotions that come with “almost 10 years of filming and 22 movies,” and that he “felt it was appropriate to share the gratitude,” then closed with a classic reiteration: “I am neither confirming or denying anything.”

It may appear that the saga should end there, but we have one more stop — the aforementioned, courtesy of Russo. The director addressed Evans’s “emotional” tweet while speaking with ET Canada in November, adding another whiplash-inducing soundbite to the chronicle.

“I think it was more emotional for him than us, only because, you know, he’s not done yet,” Russo said, quickly stifling his diabolical laugh. “And I won’t explain what that means, but the audience will soon understand what I’m talking about.”

Is this confirmation that Avengers 4 isn’t the end for Steve Rogers? Maybe, but Evans and the rest of the cast still have a few months to flip-flop on the issue before we all know for sure.

Nicki Minaj And Lil Wayne Reunite In The Twerk-Happy ‘Good Form’ Video

news image

With raunchy collabs like “Truffle Butter” and “Rich Sex” under their belts, it only makes sense that Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne‘s next team-up would be for an ode about good cunnilingus. The Young Money boss has hopped on a remix of Nicki’s latest Queen single, “Good Form,” and on Thursday (November 29), they blessed us with a video that’s basically just four minutes of twerking.

Directed by Colin Tilley, the colorful, NSFW video finds Nicki rapping on a variety of sets, most notably in a giant tub of milk — with a sprinkled sugar cookie on the side, of course. She switches up her look seemingly every three seconds, trying on a slew of costumes and candy-pink wigs, but Wayne keeps it simple. Hopping on the track about three minutes in, he performs a typically witty verse with slick lines like, “Barbie, I think you gnarly / I think you fly, these other bitches just larvae.” Tyga even makes a brief cameo at the end of the clip, proving the trio’s Young Money ties still run deep.

“Good Form” joins “Barbie Dreams,” “Ganja Burn,” “Bed,” and “Chun-Li” as the latest Queen cut to receive the visual treatment. Earlier this month, Nicki performed the new single at the MTV EMA — check out her majestic performance below.

11 Must-See Moments From Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman Diaries

news image

Witnessing Ariana and Pharrell in the studio together proves they were a match made in musical heaven. While recording “Get Well Soon,” they shared a deep convo about how the intensely personal Sweetener closer is meant to make people “feel rainbow clouds,” and Ari explained how much that song and “R.E.M.” mean to her.

“These two, I feel like, sound like my DNA. They’re how I wish I felt, how I’m striving to feel,” she said, later adding, “This feels like the most ‘me’ an album has ever felt. A lot of people were like, ‘How does it feel stepping out of your comfort zone?’ And I’m like nah, I don’t feel like I stepped out of my comfort zone, I feel like I found it.”

Pornhub responds to Starbucks porn ban with a clever new SFW idea

news image

Don’t worry, adult video aficionados. Even though Starbucks will soon begin filtering porn for customers using the chain’s in-store WiFi network, Pornhub has a workaround so you can still get your kicks while you sip your grande mocha.

Sure, the desire to watch pornography in such a public venue is a bit unnerving, but who are we to judge. Pornhub, who has as much to lose as anyone in this scenario, on Thursday announced its brand new “Safe For Work” category — specifically designed to help those of you who are just itching to surf to the site while visiting a public coffee shop.

“While we were aware some people’s preference in a sexual partner mimics that of their coffee, we were unaware that people were acting on such impulses when getting their caffeine fix,” said Corey Price, VP, Pornhub, in a statement. “To comply with Starbucks’ new policy, we’ve created an option that allow fans to still enjoy great content to which they are accustomed, but that is appropriate for consumption in public places.”

The actual content on the SFW page is, well, as varied and quirky as everything else you’d find on Pornhub: music videos, video game clips, and a hodgepodge of other stuff.

In a statement to The Verge, Starbucks recently noted that using its WiFi to view pornography has always been banned, it’s just lacked the technological tools to actually filter all that stuff out, something they promised to do back in 2016.

But it seems they finally have things in order and will have the filtering in place by 2019, following public pressure from activist groups like Enough is Enough.

There aren’t a lot of details out yet about how Starbucks will filter so it remains to be seen if people will actually be able to access the new SFW Pornhub page or if the entire Pornhub URL will be blocked from view.

Either way, you’ve got to hand it to Pornhub for not letting any obstacle stand in their way in their attempt at world domination.

In the meantime, if you’re craving the ultimate in SFW content from Pornhub, may we suggest these hilariously wholesome videos from Ryan Creamer (a former Mashable employee).
